We are a leading manufacturer based in the Stourbridge area and our passion for innovation and drive is showcased by our first-class leading service. We have always had a reputation for being at the forefront of innovative design and products and are currently looking to recruit an experienced Team Leader.
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of c10-18 Operational Colleagues to ensure a constant, smooth, and efficient Operation whilst achieving agreed budgetary and service levels, ensuring the provision of an efficient and reliable service to customers whilst meeting all legal requirements. Responsibility for the achievement of Contractual and internal KPI’s. The successful candidate will be expected to develop good working relationships and gain full appreciation of the interdependencies between functional areas.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and maximising performance of daily, weekly, monthly activities in various warehouse departments.
- Assist in all other areas of the operations as business requirements demand.
- Train, retain and motivate staff within a team-based management culture ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly targets and deadlines are clearly understood and being achieved.
- Proactively motivate your teams to ensure targets and deadlines are clearly understood and are being achieved and act as an immediate point of reference for problems.
- Meeting and surpassing business requirements.
- Reviewing daily and weekly statistics and issuing data onto Supervisors/Managers.
- To communicate and liaise with, and escalate issues to fellow Team Leaders, Supervisors, and management where necessary.
- Maintain a culture that encourages two-way feedback and ensure effective communication takes place on a regular basis and at all levels.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships and gain full appreciation of the interdependencies between functional areas.
- Plan and control daily and weekly labour and equipment requirements to achieve budgeted performance, priorities, and deadlines.
- Contribute towards the improvement of processes and practices.
- Be responsible for Health and Safety issues in accordance with Company policy.
- Identify and resolve any operational issues that may arise.
- Responsible for the day to day leading of teams including but not exhaustive.
- Monitoring timekeeping and attendance
- Requests for annual leave
- Ensuring that sickness certificates are provided in line with company policy and that return-to-work interviews are conducted after all periods of sickness absence.
- General performance and conduct
- Coaching and training, as required.
- Monitor the standard of housekeeping to ensure that it meets the Company’s H&S and Quality standards.
- Monitor and enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment etc.
To succeed in this role of Team Leader you'll have experience of a similar role, ideally with a keen grasp of lean manufacturing techniques as well as:
- Well-developed verbal and written communications
- A tidy and organised approach to work
- Willingness and flexibility in carrying out work duties assigned.
- A flexible approach to working hours and prepared to work overtime, on occasions.
- Some IT skills
- An ability to stay calm and perform effectively under pressure.
Hours of work, there are 3 shift patterns:
Monday – Thursday 6.00 am – 2.30 pm; Friday 6.00 am – 1.30 pm
Monday – Thursday 7.00 am – 3.30 pm; Friday 7.00 am – 2.30 pm
Monday – Thursday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm; Friday 8.00 am – 3.30 pm
An understanding and exposure to ‘Lean’ methodology would be beneficial in the role but is not essential.
