Job description
Main purpose of the role
To exam products closely to decide whether they are up to legal standards, safety standards, and the standards of the manufacturing company. To ensure that production standards are met and maintained for a given product before it leaves the place it’s manufactured in. To ensure that a quality product is delivered to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and calibrating measuring equipment to various testing standards
- Questioning the nature of defects while providing future solutions
- Communicating with the Quality Manager about how to prevent similar defects in the future.
- Inspecting raw materials to ensure consistency and integrity.
- Filling out and maintaining proper paperwork
- Complying with all standards, internal policies and legal regulations that apply to the finished product.
- Comparing finished products to original patents
- Writing detailed reports on the results of testing and other observations about the product
- Observing the methods and equipment employees use during production and giving them advice to correct errors and increase efficiency.
- Communicating with suppliers and distributors to let them know about potential problems and discuss how to solve them.
- Sharing technical knowledge about the product with relevant staff
- Assessing whether the finished product reflects goals set out by the original project plan.
- Using equipment like calipers, vernier, micrometers, shadow graph and others to make accurate measurements.
- Reading engineering schematics and comparing them with the finished product
- Keeping digital files and reports on product quality organised and accessible
- Any other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent qualification
Certification of quality control preferred.
Relevant experience
Proven experience in a similar Quality position within an electronic or manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of quality control standards and testing techniques
